I Miss DVDs

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

When I originally signed up for Netflix I really didn’t care all that much about the DVD selection. Instead, I wanted it for instant Watch. At the time most packages included most for the same prices. Then there was a change where it basically doubled so I ended up switching to Instant Watch. I used to be content to just go to the library and not watch many new releases. I’m spoiled now but I watch too much Suze Orman to know that I can’t afford these extra features right now.

Are You Sacrificing?

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I know that this blog is about TV and it will continue to be so. However, lately I’ve noticed that I’ve been sacrificing. I’ve fallen into the Netflix Instant Watch mentality of “Even if it’s not what I want to watch; it’s ok”. I have discovered some pretty cool shows this way.

However, yesterday I realized that the quality of what I watch has really gone down. There are a few shows that I get really excited about whenever there’s a new season like How I Met Your Mother. I feel the same way watching reruns of Gilmore Girls. However, many of the shows I watch just aren’t of that quality; but they are on the air. Instead, I’ve been practicing turning off my TV and instead reading books that are worth reading or going on hikes that are worth hiking. I wish I had a home because I suddenly have tons of time to fix it up or look at dyeing leather and refinish some furniture.

Could You Do the Opposite?

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I’ve noticed that a lot of reality shows want someone well rounded. It’s done both on tattoo shows and Project Runway. This also was true of the show Fashion Star this week. They were told to design the exact opposite of what they actually do. I was really surprised that the designers could step up. Of course a few of them just said what they did was already original enough but they got called out on it. I was wondering if I could do my job if I had to do is exactly the opposite of how I usually do it. I’d need a vehicle tracking device to find my way. Could you?
