Most of the time I draw huge life lessons from my TV programs. However, I’ll admit that I love a good car chase. In fact I’ll even watch sitcoms about people watching car chases. They are always so unrealistic in the movies and on TV though. Seriously, have you people never heard of a radar detector? I think in real life these things never turn out well so maybe glamorizing them on TV isn’t the best idea.

I was eagerly awaiting the return of Dating in the Dark. I only watched the first episode this season and then I wondered, am I done watching this show I previously loved? The basic concept is that couples date in the absolute dark so that looks don’t factor into it. Then after a few dates they have to decide whether they like the person when they see them in the light. At first, this was a great idea. It really helped people say OK can this person find jobs? Is this person nice? Do we have shared interests?
What turned me off of the show is that now it seems to be a competition about who can look best in the light and really just sway people’s opinions away. It was an interesting social experiment that somehow still ended up being superficial.

I know that I learned something from this movie, and something profound. I just haven’t been able to pinpoint what exactly it is. That would probably be really helpful.
