I love Saturday on the Travel Channel because they have lots of episodes from House Hunters International. They always have people dressed in casual clothes. I wonder if the people buy wholesale mens jackets because they all look so chic on vacation. I did learn a really cool lesson from one episode though. It was a family that wanted to have a second home in central or South America because the dad was from there. He said that this was the result of 35 years of dreaming and it really hit me. Somehow I thought that Suze Orman would approve. It was something that had been planned for and thought of for over 35 years. It wasn’t a whim or even an investment. It was a dream fulfilled and it was also really beautiful to see.

Decorating Lessons from My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding

I’ve noticed a big decorating trend on My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. Most of their trailers are cleaner than my house and my house is pretty clean. The girls seem to spend a lot of time taking care of things. However, what totally mystifies me is that usually these trailers are filled with white upholstery and glass or silver furniture. Just like the big dresses it really seems to be the norm and it’s always perfect looking. I don’t know how they accomplish that when they’re on the road. I want a house with annuity rates fixed but I will want an all white room in it too.

Is It Really the Last Time?

I always wonder if it’s really the last time that the Dr. Phil family is going to be on. They always act like it will be and they’ve gotten help now. Today it’s the “Ultimate Conclusions”. However, we’ve been through this before and they still crop up every year or two with a ton of new unbelievable problems. Maybe now that Alexandra is out of rehab some of the drama will die down but maybe Dr. Phil also needs to finally stop playing into it. Do you think this is really the last time The Dr. Phil Family will be on the show and can these people ever get it together?

Product placement is the oldest trick in the book. You might think that you are looking at a cool room with Indoor Fountains but there might be a bag of chips or something on a table that you don’t even notice when watching a movie. Every time the Dr. Phil family is on the show everyone cries. Also I’m sure the audience cries as well and possibly even people at home do as well. I noticed today that they had special tissues or handkerchiefs for each of the crying guests to hold with the Dr. Phil logo carefully placed. The guests even kept it folded neatly so the logo showed perfectly. Now they just need to put some up in an online store for the people in the home audience too.

Harsh Lessons from TV

In the past week I’ve seen two different shows with the same horrific tragedy on them. One of them was Couple’s Therapy where they showed an actual strong couple. They were engaged and the woman was pushed into a pool and hit her head. She died, andwas brought back. Now she’s in a wheelchair.

I saw a different show that I don’t remember the name of where a man had been pushed into a pool at his wedding and was now a quadriplegic. It seems like this stunt is pulled every time there is an event next to a pool but I really hope that we can learn a lesson from this: don’t push people in pools. Sure, every wedding focuses on floral arrangements and pretty dresses but safety is also important.

One thing that really surprised me on Couples Therapy was that there was a problem with cheating. Instead of trying to resolve the trust issues in between the two people instead they brought in the manger that was supposedly cheating with the man. Sure, you might be able to figure out how to fix this one situation but isn’t it better to give these people the tools to work on it for future situations that would arrive?

Craft Delusions

The one thing about all of the TV shows that I watch is just that I think that I can do craft projects when I really don’t have the capability or time. It looks so easy on TV. It always looks professional and creative too. Then when I try it the project turns into a huge disaster. I’ve learned that there are lots of things that aren’t DIY projects. Anything that requires cutting or patience will turn into a mess when it’s in my hands.

However, there are some things that I’m pretty good at and I can still leverage those. I love the design process. I love choosing colors and themes. This is why I like picking out the perfect invitation design without actually making the invites. It’s easy at InvitationBox.com.

There’s plenty of things to like about this site. I love that they advocate sending invitations for fun events like a barbeque. They also have the traditional graduation announcements. They even have a lot of quality control procedures in place so that you get exactly what you want. You can get a physical sample in the mail if you’re worried about the exact color. I’d try this out if it was for a big event like a wedding. You can also order a proof to be sent to your computer or fax.

Something else that sets this site apart is how organized it is. When I was there I found a coupon code quickly right on the site. I love that they help you to save money without having to hunt for a code at a coupon site. That’s definitely generous of them. There’s also a selection of custom stampers where you can add in your name or monogram. I love that I can get a custom look without having to do any craft projects.

I Miss DVDs

When I originally signed up for Netflix I really didn’t care all that much about the DVD selection. Instead, I wanted it for instant Watch. At the time most packages included most for the same prices. Then there was a change where it basically doubled so I ended up switching to Instant Watch. I used to be content to just go to the library and not watch many new releases. I’m spoiled now but I watch too much Suze Orman to know that I can’t afford these extra features right now.
