I’ve been watching “19 Kids and Counting” since it was “18 Kids and Counting”, “17 Kids and Counting” and possibly even “16 Kids and Counting”. That family just seems to keep growing and growing. At first I tuned in because I wanted to see the hectic lifestyle that comes with all those kids. However, I kept tuning in because of the peace, serenity and happiness of the family.

Of course with these many kids they do have trials. They probably spend more on dental work than most people spend on their mortgage payments. However, they always seem to get through it with a smile. I’ve always wondered what it would be like if they were actually faced with a real trial. However, with the birth of their premature baby Josie this really seems to have finally happened. They’ve been so blessed to have all of those kids come out healthy before this. I was wondering what would happen to their Pollyanna attitude.

I’ve cried at almost create every single episode since the baby was born. The family has really pulled together. The older kids always had a lot of responsibility because they have to help with the younger kids. This has really been magnified. They moved houses and have much less efficient house to raise all of those kids in. Plus, their parents are usually at the hospital a lot.

Michelle has really shown a lot of perseverance and faith. It’s really touching to see her pray whenever her daughter has to undergo a medical procedure. I don’t believe in all of their beliefs. I think that it’s perfectly okay to dance and wear pants. However, it has been very inspiring to see how they handle their trials.

Last Night in a very sleepy state I frantically scribbled down a quote for the base of a blog post. I was watching TV at the time but I can’t remember exactly what show or what it was in reference to. The quote was “Everything that is out there you chose to show.” I’ve been wondering where I was going with this or why it meant so much to me.

Was it during Project Runway? Were they trying to get the designers to take responsibility for their collections? Did this somehow speak to me as how I should represent myself?

Did it come up during a Jon & Kate plus 8 commercial? Did it occur to me that while the couple always complains about the paparazzi they seem to egg them on? During last week’s episode they showed Jon ignoring his kids while he texted then going out to the fence to talk to cute girls who wanted autographs while his kids waited to play a game.

I guess the quote is applicable to almost any show on TV. It seems so many of the reality shows then cry that they are victims of the media. I hope I remember what that quote was from soon.

I was watching Oprah a few days ago when she was interviewing women who had gone after a man who had knowingly given them all HIV. Oprah kept asking questions about whether they suspected something was wrong, or felt it in their guts. Then she quotes Maya Angelou as saying something like “The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them.”

This really got me thinking. Most of the time, people will tell you right out that they are always late or not looking for a relationship. Instead, we want them to be “the one” or have integrity so we just switch it up in our brains to he’s being insecure or humble. He’s really not; he’s showing you who he is. Believe him.

I was watching the Bonnie Hunt show a few days ago and a woman came on with a book called “Divorce Sucks.” The woman was so articulate and poised, probably the most of any person I had ever seen. I really liked the title of the book, it’s so true and to the point. I’ve never been divorced but I’m sure that it does suck. You have to go out and buy new tvs, desktop computers, pots and pans, and start life all over.

The author kept talking about her public divorce and I just couldn’t figure out who was her ex celebrity half. I didn’t recognize the name Mary Jo Eustace. Turns out the horrible monster that broke up with her while she was holding their newborn and wearing a bikini was Dean McDermott.

I had read Tori Spelling’s book and watched the show. The ex wife was painted as some kind of cynical, older woman. Mary was stunningly beautiful. I have heard Tori and Dean talk about being soul mates and I do think they make a cute couple. It was easy to paint Mary Jo as this villain who was trying to stand in the way of “true love”. I had never seen things from her perspective before but now that I have I don’t think I can watch anymore Tori & Dean shows.

I don’t think that the show House has jumped the shark. I don’t even think it’s in danger of jumping the shark. However, there have been occurrences lately that have forever changed the course of the show. Chase basically killed a dictator, an evil evil dictator. Foreman is helping Chase cover up the death of the evil evil dictator. I guess the writers just thought that now that House is sober, they better make the other characters evil. Why don’t they just let things be good? House can get his own apartment and decorate it with wrought iron candle sconces and then date Dr. Lisa Cuddy. Why can’t that just happen?

I know they probably just did it to get our attention and in a few episodes everything will be back to normal. However, murdering someone is not going to be made right by the next season’s plot ploy. I now think of both of these doctors differently and I forever will. What other series can you think of that jumped the shark psychologically speaking?

I’ve been seeing a lot of you on the A&E show Hoarders. I really don’t understand what you are doing. The hoarder tells you that they need to sort through every little thing. Then the psychologist tells you that the hoarder needs to sort through every single thing. Then the organizer tells you the hoarder needs to sort through every little thing. Almost every single episode a family member in their overzealousness starts loading up the truck thinking that the person will just forget that they didn’t use to have a clean yard. Every single time the hoarder becomes suspicious and it seriously halts and sets back the process. Just don’t throw out the stuff without an ok first.

Sincerely,

I was watching the show “Little People, Big World”, well just a few seconds. I’ve never watched the show before but I had hoped that they weren’t suffering the way Jon and Kate are. From what I see on the commercials they seem like a pretty balanced family, but even a little bit of fame will affect people. I don’t know anyone’s name, and that really doesn’t matter. I don’t care if this was taken out of context. It just made me want to find a used rv for sale and run away from the TV and anyone who has ever been on the TV.

The dad was talking to his twin sons, they look like teenagers. He was telling the camera in an interview that they were trying to keep better track of them because the twins had been staying out late. So the dad asked where they were going and the sons honestly answered that they were going to a hot tub party with a lot of girls. Then the dad said “Are you taking swimsuits?” One of the sons acted like they weren’t going to be necessary. That’s where the conversation ended. The sons kept getting ready to go to the party. The mom went bowling.

Yes, it’s good to have hands on approach to parenting and know where your kids are. However, when your kids tell you they are going somewhere that sounds dangerous, you are supposed to ask follow up questions, or even better, act on it. It’s like saying “Hi son, where are you going?” “To run around with scissors dad.” “Ok, I did my job as a parent. Now I know that you are going to get hurt.”
