Love it or List It

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

Since I don’t have HGTV Christmas is when I catch up on all of the new shows. One of my favorite new shows was on HGTV. It’s called Love It or List It. The homeowners are at odds whether they should fix up their house or sell it. They invest the money in their home to renovate it and work with a designer. At the same time they see what their budget would get them in a new home. Then when they see how the renovation turns out they need to decide whether they want to leave it or they fall in love with it. They might get a new kitchen or whatever it would take for them to love their house again. I would love a new exercise room with a yoga mat.

I’m a little bit worried about them investing in their homes in this market. What if they want to leave it and fall in love with another property; but they can’t sell their home? Plus, it seems a little bit counterproductive to have them live through a remodel because that’s probably why they wanted to leave in the first place so they wouldn’t have to have all that stress and investment. I do love the show though; it’s probably the best thing on HGTV at the moment.

The New Barry

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

It’s obvious that on the new Storage Wars: Texas they just ripped off a lot of the cast from the original show. My case in point is Barry, I mean Moe who is like the new Barry. He dresses funky and has a zany attitude compared against all of the other bidders. I think this show would be unbearably tense without all of the comic relief that these “players” provide. Sure, they are a little different. Barry wears funny socks and Moe wears funny shoes. Barry says he’s after collectibles and Moe only wants antiques. Has anyone else noticed the similarity between the two Storage War shows? Which one do you like better?

Respect

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

This is a concept that Jarrod on Storage Wars seems to have a problem with. He always refers to it as “winning”. Does he realize that he actually has to pay for the locker? You should buy it based on what you see like computer carts or antiques. He is buying instead of winning. In the last episode he said something about that is how you win respect. That is how you prove yourself when there are all of these big players around. All he did though was proving that Jarrod overpays for storage lockers but he was lucky that this particular locker actually paid out.
