What I Learned from TLC

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

TLC has lots of different shows with people with lots of kids. This can just be anywhere from 6 to um 19. However, all of these big families have the same thing in common. They all just focus on the same thing such as dentists. Everyday things really cost an astronomical amount. However, it’s also quite a production to just go anywhere. It amazes me all of the forethought that really takes into going on trips and these people go on lots and lots of trips. How do they keep track of things like iPod cases and toothbrushes? It’s a production just to pack suitcases.

What I Love about the Princess Show

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

This is a new show on CNBC with the lady from ‘Til Debt Do Us Part. However, instead of dealing with couples it’s just really all about dealing with the prevalent princess attitude. The one thing I like about this show is that it shows you what you make and what you spend, just like ‘Til Debt Do Us Part. However, it also really just shows how much you’d have to make in order to really just maintain your lifestyle the way it is. At times it can be 6 times what you make and it shows that sometimes you really have to live on a budget because some of the salaries you’d need are really unrealistic.

More Lessons from Suze Orman

One of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned from watching Suze Orman is just about student loans. This is really obvious but it seems amazing to me that so many people just end up not thinking about their student loans. Suze Orman gas alluded that there should be someone that really just asks them at the college if they understand how long it will take them to pay it back with what they will actually make when they are out of college.

They have to figure out what their income will be after taxes, and all expenses even little ones like halloween accessories. She says that some people should go to junior colleges or even community colleges. It’s just depends on your major: both what you’ll need and what you’ll make. However, a lot of people don’t take the time to do this step and just assume that they’ll be fine.
