It’s an Inside Joke

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

One of the many things that really bothers me about TLC’s show Sister Wives is all of the inside jokes. They always seem to be making fun of salespeople or tour guides by saying “You don’t even know” Well, it’s probably not a person’s first inclination just to assume that this one guy is married to all of these women and that your both hiding and filming it. They seem like nice people, but hearing that one phrase over and over at other people’s expense always makes me cringe.

Lessons Learned From Storage Wars

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I’m sure that there are plenty of business lessons to learn from Storage Wars. However, Dave always distracts me. I always look up from work or researching how to get rid of pimples overnight when I hear his voice. Everyone is afraid of him and the way he just yells out “Yep” and bids up every single storage unit auction. It seems like he’s always saying something like “I just overpaid for a unit to teach a lesson”. Umm, what exactly is that lesson, that you have too much money? I think he’s just human and wants respect. He initially seems like a really nice guy but he’s really ruthless in those auctions.

Another Reason I Love Suze Orman

I kind of roll my eyes when financial experts write books or offer expensive programs. It’s like “Ummmm…people listen to you because they are having money problems. It makes me so angry it’s practically muscle stimulation. Then you tell them they have to spend money to find the answer”. Suze really set herself apart. She’s said several times on her show something to the effect: “If you can’t afford my new book go to the library. It’s just as good at the library. There’s a code to the website in there”. Who else in the world would say “Don’t buy my book; I know you can’t afford it. I want to help you anyways”.
