The Oprah Moment

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

There is a phenomenon on Oprah that really isn’t on any other show. The guests try to say meaningful things so that Oprah says she has an “Aha” moment and that’s how the audience knows that something important just happened. That was very apparent on today’s show with Iyanla Vanzant. One of Oprah’s first “gurus” I guess they had a bitter parting. I didn’t see the previous show with their reunion. I remember Iyanla vaguely. However, there just didn’t be an “aha” moment on Oprah today although Oprah did loosen up and laugh near the end. Either she was just trying to understand, but Iyanla kept cutting her off and wouldn’t even let Oprah finish a thought. I wished there was some sort of emotional hgh that would fix it. I felt she was still somewhat disrespectful and she was trying to force her “philosophy”. Did anyone else feel this way about the reunion?

I Just Don’t Get It

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I’m in the third season of Brothers and Sisters and I just don’t get it. The one thing that I keep watching to find out would be “Is Holly evil”? She keeps trying to destroy the Walker family in every way that she possibly can. I keep waiting for her to have one of those very human moments. Instead, she just seems to be getting more and more evil. She’s someone that I have the feeling that writers keep telling me that I should like even though I really don’t.

The Anti Bride

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

Last week’s episode of Say Yes to the Dress was somewhat confusing. One of the brides just didn’t want to try on dresses even though she wasn’t the one buying it. She wasn’t excited about anything about her wedding. She had a panic attack in the dress. I actually understand all of this because I’m a little bit of an anti bride even though I’m not engaged. She just acted like it was absolute torture. She ended up canceling her big wedding the day after the show so she could get married in the Caribbean. Maybe the dress wasn’t the problem but the overall wedding location was.
