What I Learned from Toddlers & Tiaras

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

Well, I finished watching another season of Toddlers & Tiaras. I thought that the season finale pageant was very interesting. It was a semi glitz pageant so either the girls were underdressed or they were too “glitz” because no one knew what it meant. Their perfect skin with all that makeup has me looking for a natural acne treatment.

I’ve noticed a pattern among all of the shows though. Usually the moms will just start out by buying on eBay or spending a few hundred dollars. One of the moms in the last few episodes rented a dress which I thought was very cost effective. I don’t know why they don’t all do that instead of just spending hundreds or thousands of dollars. All of the moms say that it just snowballs once you get started in glitz.

I’ve been watching the first season of the show and there are really plenty of reasons to love The Antonio Treatment. However, I really adore the way that he’s such a strong tough Italian and sometimes he just breaks out saying “wackadoodle”. Yes, that man can make anything cool.

How to Be Friends With a Celebrity

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

On the show with Iyanla Oprah taught us a very good lesson. She asked whether Iyanla’s husband had been working when their relationship was in its final demise. I think it’s important to pay for your own expenses, a share of the housing, and your own personal expenses like diet pills. Iyanla said that he wasn’t. Oprah said that makes all the difference, that she and Stedman had lasted because he had this own path and interest, and credited Gayle King with the same thing. I think that’s the secret, having your own life and treating the celebrity like an actual person.
