You Aren’t Entitled

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

One thing that Suze Orman always seems to suggest that people give up are their weekends, even if they have families. I don’t know how this would effect their health long term which can end up costing them even more money. However, I really think it’s interesting that so many people feel entitled to their weekends. I would feel the same way. I feel like it would be my mom saying “Weekends are a privilege not a right and you don’t get them back until you pay off the debt.”

Gift Spectactular

A few weeks ago I was watching the Suze Orman gift spectacular. It was funny the timing of it. I think she was trying to make us really think before black Friday hit. She just had lots of “Can I Afford It?” segments. It was interesting to see all of the people who wanted to buy gifts for themselves. In fact that seemed to be more of the focus than giving to others. We could all save a lot of money if either we stopped giving to others and only bought what we wanted or let other people do the gift giving for us.

Lessons Learned from Maid in Manhattan

I had mixed feelings about watching this movie. At first I thought that I was watching Wedding Planner so I was disappointed and trying to figure out exactly which Jennifer Lopez movie I was watching. I was glad that I stuck it out until the end because I heard a line that I had forgotten about. I think it went something like “What we do Ms. Ventura does not define who we are”. For everyone who has ever been a waitress or had a job where they dealt with the public, especially around Christmas time, while still feeling invisible I really feel like this quote applies.
