More Lessons Learned from How I Met Your Mother

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I thought that I was just going to watch the first episode of the show and then have a pretty idea of who the “mother” was. Of course, instead this is a storyline that really stretches throughout the entire series. Last night I watched the pilot. The kids asked if it was going to be a long story like you’ll need anti wrinkle eye cream by the time its over. This really struck me how everyone has that one question that they are waiting to be asked. It’s the question that will unfold their whole life story such as “How did you meet mom/ or your wife?” For other people it would be “Why do you live here?” or “Why is that your job?” Sadly, most of these questions go unasked so the stories go untold. What is the life story that you’re just dying to tell?

Lessons Learned from Toddlers and Tiaras

I recently started watching Toddlers and Tiaras again. I’m always struck with how beautiful these girls look with their fake hair and teeth. The moms are always so defensive about it. One little girl actually started crying when she won back her entrance fee. It just seems like a lot of pressure to put on kids. Sure, I’ll keep watching the show but I don’t know how the parents really justify the expense of this.

Questions from How I Met Your Mother

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I’ve really fallen in love with this show, even though I wasn’t really planning on it. It’s a show that gets funnier the more you watch it. It’s really got me wondering about friendships. Sure, I have friends. Sometimes we go places as a group. However, my best friends aren’t friends with each other and they don’t know each other. If they did, I doubt they would be best friends. I find myself longing for that tight knit group that does everything together, sits around on log furniture and talks, that really comes of age together. I don’t know if it could actually exist in real life or if I’m just craving sitcom like adventures.
