Lessons Learned from Eddie Izzard

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I knew who Eddie Izzard was. I’ve watched tons of his comedy shows. I love him…a lot. So, when Roku started offering Believe: The Eddie Izzard story I had to check it out. I realized that I didn’t know much about Eddie Izzard. I had no idea about the apparent scandal he was in a few years ago or that he stopped comedy for years as a result of it.

I learned a huge life lesson from this story. First off he said something like “You’ve got to believe you can act before you can be an actor, you got to believe you’re a comic before you can be a comic”.

The other thing I learned from this movie I will apply to my business. The movie made me just want to tackle life whether it’s finding a body acne treatment, doing the dishes, or changing careers. This guy was absolutely terrible for at least a decade. He was a starving street performer and wasn’t good at it. For him, this did not come naturally. Not only did he pay his dues, he developed a talent. So, when you go after a dream, not only do you have to take the chance, you have to work at it. You have to love it so much that you won’t quit even when you aren’t successful for years or even when you aren’t good at it. Then, of course, you’ve got to believe.

Lessons Learned from Nate’s Dating Segment

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

Nate’s dating segment yesterday was based on decorating. The bachelorette had a chance to see three guys’ apartments then she had to choose someone to go on a date with. I thought this was a rip off of HGTV’s show a few years back called “Date by Design”. However, it’s an interesting concept. Instead of judging on looks you really have to judge on how someone actually lives. I thought it was really funny because all of the bachelor’s apartments look exactly the same and somehow she had to choose from all the dingy, undecorated, cluttered rooms.

Lessons Learned from the Kardashians

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I don’t get the channel that Keeping up With the Kardashians was on, and I didn’t really watch it when I did. However, I was catching up with season 3 on my Roku. It usually just makes me have a lot of beauty questions like how to get rid of wrinkles? This was when Khloe was going through the court process and went to jail for about 47 seconds. I learned something interesting when she was walking through gauntlets of paparazzi. You know all of those angry, sneering pictures of celebrities you see? They are there for a reason. Not only do paparazzi follow people everywhere, they also really bait the celebrities. Some of the questions could be in line with an interview but most of them are just accusations that are said to incite anger so they can get their shot.
