Decorating Tips from Project Runway

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I know that Project Runway is about fashion, but sometimes they also have amazing decorating ideas. Usually when I’m bored I just wonder if the models have weight loss information, but now I look at the wall. I am really in love with the wall treatment in the sewing machine section of the work room. It’s basically a grid of a lot of metallic paints that all look the same but are slightly different. It reminds me of a really cool paint chip. I am renting my apartment so I can’t try it out, but I find it a lot more interesting than most of the drama that goes on in the show.

More Say Yes to the Dress Lessons

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

Whether it’s the Atlanta or New York version one thing is always the same. You shouldn’t try on your dream dress if it’s out of your budget. It seems like brides always have one dress in mind that’s three times what they can afford and the consultants try to talk them out of it. They just can’t get the dream dress out of their head so they give it a go. It’s almost always a disaster, with the bride falling in love with the dress she can’t afford and then no other gown will meet up to it. Just don’t do it.

Lessons Learned From Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I had a few reservations about the Atlanta version of Say Yes to the Dress. I thought it would be pretty close to the New York version. However, there seem to be a lot of superstitions. It’s always hard for the bride to choose a dress that her mother doesn’t like, but in the South it’s just unheard of. Some moms even hint that their daughters need to find good weight loss pills so the dress fits better. It seems like a lot of these girls look at their mom and grandma before they even look in the mirror. So bridal shopping is definitely different in the south.
