Lessons Learned from Anna

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I really love watching the show 19 Kids and Counting because I usually learn a lot of lessons about family. They are all so positive. It just makes me more excited about my own life, even if I’m just doing something simple like looking for treatment for blackheads or washing the dishes.

Last night I learned a message about marriage. Josh was like an hour and a half late to a photo shoot. Anna called and politely asked where he was and how long he’d be even though camera crews were waiting on him. When he walked in she went and gave him a kiss. At first I was wondering “Where’s the yelling?” because with any other couple on the entire planet there would be yelling or some passive aggressive behavior. Instead, she seemed happy to see him. I’m not sure that he should be rewarded for his bad behavior or get away with everything, but maybe there is a lesson here. Either way it just really stood out to me because they’ve been married for awhile now but still seem to be in the honeymoon phase. I hope they stay there.

Kate’s Back

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

This week’s episode of Kate Plus Eight showed the Kate we are used to. She’s bossy and maybe that’s ok. With that many kids there needs to be someone in control. Lately, she’s just been holding back a lot because of the precarious situation with her show/life. However, when she kept instructing her kids not to talk or made them all sit on the floor of the shoe store, it seemed more like the old Kate. I really don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing. I did hear in an interview with her that she thought she’d be alone forever just because of how the media betrays her. She looks gorgeous now, but whether she is a nice person in real life or not, I don’t know. She is right though that she has a horrible image as a control freak but with that many kids you probably need to.

Housing Lessons Learned from Hoarders

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

Lately, the last couple episodes of Hoarders haven shown people in pretty dire situations. Instead of just threatening to fine people or even thrown them in jail some of the cities have actually been tearing these houses down. Just the stress of that would be like natural fat burners for me, I wouldn’t be able to handle all of the complications.

One of the cleaning people said something about the fact that hoarding does the same thing to houses it does to people. Just all of the garbage piles up and damages floors and ceilings. It was really eye opening to see it from this point of view. Even when they have a team of professional organizers and cleaning people it still doesn’t look clean just because of all the damage. Last night they ripped up a carpet and there were gorgeous hardwood floors underneath and I was really happy that the family was going to get a fresh and beautiful new start. All the more reason to get help for anyone who has this problem, it literally lets you keep your house. One lady was in danger of having another one of her houses torn down and it had already happened to her once before.
