Done with Dating?

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: 1

I was eagerly awaiting the return of Dating in the Dark. I only watched the first episode this season and then I wondered, am I done watching this show I previously loved? The basic concept is that couples date in the absolute dark so that looks don’t factor into it. Then after a few dates they have to decide whether they like the person when they see them in the light. At first, this was a great idea. It really helped people say OK can this person find jobs? Is this person nice? Do we have shared interests?

What turned me off of the show is that now it seems to be a competition about who can look best in the light and really just sway people’s opinions away. It was an interesting social experiment that somehow still ended up being superficial.

Lessons Learned from 500 Days of Summer

I know that I learned something from this movie, and something profound. I just haven’t been able to pinpoint what exactly it is. That would probably be really helpful.

Stick With It

About a year ago I moved and fewer cable channels were available at my new place. At first this was good because I got to go outside and see the real world. However, I found myself missing reality TV, well real reality TV. I miss all of the documentary shows that used to be on MTV where you get a glimpse into other people’s lives.

I remember one documentary about people on social security disability and how hard it is to get there. I really had no idea, I just always thought that if you needed the help, you would get it. Instead it seems like a lot of people need to work with a company who’s experienced in it. It also takes a lot of time and you might have to go through some rejections but if you need it you’ve really go to stick with it.
