Where’s Her Movie?

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

With my recent fashion movie watching spree I couldn’t help but see that someone’s documentary is missing. What I really want is to see Diane Von Furstenberg. I first became acquainted with her on The City. Of all the fashion designers she seems to be the one with an actual life philosophy. She’s the only one who really seems to well..be happy or at peace. This has to help her business and brand. I’m just so enamored by her that I don’t know why all the fashion documentaries focus on the negative when they could be bathing in the positive.

Learning to Let Go

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

When I first got my Roku box there were some movies that I just knew I had to put in my queue. Then trying to see the selection I found it easier to just look up an actor or actresses’ name. This gave me a good indication of which movies were Instant Watch titles.

In general I finish what I start, whether it’s a movie or a book. However, I’ve noticed that a lot of these “gems” from my favorite stars really just act as sleep pills. There are so many good movies out there to watch that I’ve had to learn when it’s time to just let them go. Sometimes there is good reason why I’ve never heard of the movies before.

Valentino: The Last Emperor

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

Watching Valentino: The Last Emperor was like putting on a coat in negative thirty degree weather after watching The September Issue. He is just such a warm man and a genius. Even I fell in love with couture fashion after watching it. I’ve been trying to think of the proper adjective for him: warm, genius, stubborn. Really though he can only just be called Valentino. His partnership, his work, his parties are all so Valentino. I really also loved his models. They were skinny but a kind of skinny that could possibly be achieved by burning belly fat. They still seemed feminine and pretty instead of just like stick figures.
