More Lessons Learned from Inedible to Incredible

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

It was really fascinating to see how Chef Besh helps people become cooks. He usually sits them down for their last challenge and makes them use a recipe. I always thought that real chefs didn’t use measuring cups or recipes; that they seasoned to taste. I think it’s a building block that has definitely had me pulling out the good old teaspoon again. A lot of these home chefs were just eyeballing things and coming up with creative brainstorms and that was why their food was so bad.

Lessons Learned From Inedible to Incredible

I was really excited to see that John Besh was coming back to TV because I was a really big fan of his when he was on the Next Iron Chef. I was sad that he didn’t win just because he does have such personality. So TLC gave him his own show. The basic premise is that he goes to horrible cook’s houses and redoes their signature dishes. He cuts out the fat and adds in the flavor it’s like elliptical machines for food.

The funny thing is that most of these people try to cook. In fact in their “help” video they basically think they are on a cooking show. A friend or family member who can’t take any more of their cooking nominates them. It really has me uneasy about serving my food to other people because it seems like everyone lies and tells people they are a good cook when they really aren’t. It’s basically a makeover show for food and I’ll definitely keep tuning in.

More Lessons from Murder She Wrote

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

The other thing that I really love about Murder She Wrote is the sheer quantity that Jessica Fletcher writes, Trying to make my living online, I’ve just had to accept that I’ll need million(s) of words, which seems impossible. At times I think about how many books I’d be able to write with all of those words and I get really discouraged. She’s constantly working. I think the modern day version of this work ethic would probably have iphone insurance and constantly be on the go.

However, just a few episodes in Jessica went from putting out her first book to her sixth. Granted, she never really writes on the show, but still. She’s proof, well at least make believe proof, that it can be done.
