Lessons Learned from L.A. Ink

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: 1

I used to be a loyal fan of this show. However, when Kat kept having trouble with every single assistant and artist that walked into the shop because her ego is too big for this planet I stopped tuning in regularly. Now it pains me to even see the previews. It seems like Kat is having the same problems with Corey that she was having with Aubry, Liz and Pixie. I don’t know if this is just her nature to always have like one huge enemy. When that enemy leaves her wrath instantly gets transferred to someone else.

Of course this could also jus be a manufactured plot line, but it keeps showing up over and over and is why I only occasionally watch it anymore. It’s so stressful to me that I’d need treatment for wrinkles if I didn’t stop watching it. She always talks about being part of the tattoo family. However, then she just kicks out anyone that she doesn’t like which isn’t a luxury that family has. Well at least she’s got the fighting thing right which would be at home in most family reunions and pretty much anyone’s family whether biological or tattoo.

Let’s Get a Little Perspective

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

The one thing that really gets me about The Police Women of Maricopa County is how arbitrary the arrests seem. It’s like last week this juvenile had been throwing stuff around her house and carrying on and the police came and told her dad they really couldn’t help her unless she did something bad. Then they told the kid to hug her mom and her mom put her arms around her but the kid wouldn’t hug back. The policewoman just lost it and decided to take her to jail for failure to hug.

One of my favorite times was when this woman was throwing a hissy fit because her car was going to get towed. It got so bad and it was just the end of the world and she was going to lose her job and she was just so whiny. She threw her keys or her license I don’t remember which at the cop and so they were going to take her to jail. They cuffed her and she really just stopped crying and calmed down. She had been given a lot of chances and then they let her go and getting her car towed didn’t seem so bad. Thanks for the perspective Police Women of Maricopa County.

Dr. Phil Finally Got It Right

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

It’s been since last fall when the Dr. Phil family returned. These people stress me out so much that it’s probably showing on my face. They should send anti wrinkle eye cream to all the viewers. Every week I wait for him to just finally tell these people that they are hopeless and kick them off forever. However he always seems to end with “I’m still invested as long as they do the work”. It’s almost like we’ll be seeing Erin, Marty, Alex and Katherine until they are all 80-140 years old. It just doesn’t seem like there is enough help in the world for those people.

What really annoys me are all the clips. Dr. Phil just compiles tons of clips from all the previous episodes to show how the people aren’t listening. Sometimes I get frustrated with Dr. Phil because it’s like “Don’t you get that they just don’t get it?” So today he was playing back times when Alex hadn’t listened and then just told her what he’s been telling her all along, what all her family and viewers and lawyers have been saying that she won’t listen to. Finally Dr. Phil very kindly said “What did you hear me just say?” and she kind of looked blank when it came time for her to actually repeat it back. I really think that’s how he needs to relate to her so she just has to answer instead of always saying “I know, I’m so sick of everyone saying that. I know already”.
