Sure Your Kid Might Look Good but What about You?

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: 1

It always amuses me on Toddlers and Tiaras when the mom or dad does the routine behind the judges as means of coaching their child on stage. It also bothers me that these kids are trained to be poised but then their parents can make utter fools out of themselves. It’s just a huge contradiction that I don’t really understand. Sometimes the moms yell or even heckle and their daughters just have to stand around and smile while turning slowly. I think the real show is watching the pageant moms instead of the kids.

I Still Don’t Get the Crowning Process

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

Ok, this is my second to the last post about Toddlers & Tiaras, at least until next season. The show just always leaves me so puzzled. For instance, what is up with crowning? Most of the parents can’t even explain it. Apparently, you don’t want to win Queen in your age division. You want to get “bumped” up to a Grand Supreme title. One of the girls made a really ugly face when she was crowned queen.

Sure you get a big tiara if you are queen. The runner-up crowns just look like they took a fat burner compared to the queen’s. To me, that would be an honor but in the pageant world it’s like a prize for not being good enough. A lot of the little girls end up crying when they don’t get a crown at first. Then their parents have to explain that they don’t want that crown, that it’s good not to win that one.

Signs Your Child Doesn’t Want to be in Pageants

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

This is for all the moms on Toddlers and Tiaras. They always say that they do it for mother/daughter bonding time or because their daughter just loves pageants. However, then their daughter goes on a rampage to contradict everything their mom has said. Here are a few signs that your daughter doesn’t want to be in pageants. It’s different from adult body builders who can take the best muscle supplement and do body building pageants. It’s even different from college beauty queens because those people have a choice.

1. She cries when you are putting fake eyelashes or hair on her.
2. She stomps on stage and just stands there.
3. You have to bribe her with a new toy to get her to do well in pageants.
4. She says she doesn’t want to do pageants anymore.

Most of the moms simply refuse to recognize the obvious. I think of all of the seasons of this show that I’ve watched I’ve only seen one or two kids who really wanted to be there. It just goes to show that a lot of the moms are in this for themselves, not their kids.
