The Simpsons Theme Night

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

Last week they were doing this weird Simpsons scavenger hunt on Fox. They would put the Simpsons references in with other shows. I especially like when House referred to certain parts of Cuddy’s anatomy as Patti and Selma. Lisa said “Why because they are someone’s aunts?” House said “No because they are always smoking.” I know that something weird was up with the dialogue even though I could place it as a Simpsons’ reference. I didn’t find out about the scavenger hunt until the next commercial.

Way to be Blunt Suze Orman

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I was watching the anniversary special of the “Can I Afford It?” segment on the Suze Orman show. Suze is great with numbers. She’s great at pointing out that someone at least needs to take into account the mileage on their car and get a health insurance lead before they make any unnecessary purchases. What she is not great with is small talk. In fact she’s the most awkward person I’ve ever seen in this one area.

Take for instance last night. She isn’t supposed to judge whatever people are buying. She just gets a little bit of background and then tells the person whether they can afford it or not. Otherwise the whole show could be filled up with yelling at one person instead of yelling at half a dozen people. Someone called in wanting to buy an anniversary trip for their spouse; I think they had been married 15 years. Suze was talking about how impressive it was and then just in a very casual small talk way asked “So have you ever cheated on each other?” The person said “No of course not” Suze said, “I can tell” and then just whisked right into the numbers. Talk about awkward.

Don’t Go on Court TV Shows if…

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

It always baffles me why anyone would go and air all of their personal laundry just to settle a dispute on national TV for a few hundred dollars. However, on any week day at any given time you have a choice of about three different court shows to watch. I think a lot of people just go on the shows because they want to be on TV or they are vindictive against their ex. There are some episodes that totally make me want to run away from everything I know, I’d probably end up in hotels in destin fl.

There are a few types of cases that always make me laugh. I don’t know everything about the law but I do know this: don’t sue someone because your illegal scam didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to. I’ve seen babysitters taken to the TV court shows because they refused to give part of the fraudulent state check back to the mother as agreed upon. Just last week there was a case where the woman was suing two business owners because her check scam didn’t work out as planned. The judge will figure it out people. Just don’t do it, it’s embarrassing to watch.
