Lessons Learned from Oprah

I was watching Oprah a few days ago when she was interviewing women who had gone after a man who had knowingly given them all HIV. Oprah kept asking questions about whether they suspected something was wrong, or felt it in their guts. Then she quotes Maya Angelou as saying something like “The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them.”

This really got me thinking. Most of the time, people will tell you right out that they are always late or not looking for a relationship. Instead, we want them to be “the one” or have integrity so we just switch it up in our brains to he’s being insecure or humble. He’s really not; he’s showing you who he is. Believe him.
