Friends or Work

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: 1

What really turned me against Kat Von D was when she basically said that Aubrey couldn’t keep her job and still hang out with the tattoo artists who quit like Paulie and Amy. Kat does great tattoos and I love the way she dresses. She has her own style that’s elegant and grunge at the same time. I think there’s even a portrait on the wall of her wearing a tuxedo vest and leather pants.

It’s not like Aubrey will ever fit in at LA Ink or earn respect. It’s bad enough that she has to be verbally abused and to be threatened to be fired every day. At least let her keep some people in her life who can stand to be around her. The fact that Kat is so paranoid about this makes me wonder if she’s threatened by Paulie and Amy and other tattoo shops in general. Don’t get me wrong, I find Aubrey overbearing and annoying but I didn’t hire her. I don’t like to watch her on TV but when you give her such an unprofessional ultimatum it just looks desperate. I would definitely choose my friends, there are plenty of other sucky jobs out there. Which would you choose?

Sara and Grissom

Filed under: Relationship Lessons • Comments: None

I haven’t watched the original CSI or any of the other versions of the show in many years. It just became too gross and graphic for me to handle. For whatever reason my local news was showing a clip from CSI where Sara was talking about being married to Grissom. I had watched the first season of the show and always liked the two of them. At least that’s what I thought they said. I had never thought of the two as a couple so maybe I heard wrong in my shock. I went looking through fan forums for the news and people were asking if they were married. Anyways Sara and Grissom a couple, who knew? Probably everyone else with a TV except for me.

LA Inks?

Filed under: Business Lessons • Comments: 6

I really don’t understand what is going on with the show LA Ink. All the new people keep getting fired. Kat just keeps putting more and more pictures of herself up in her shop, like life size oil portraits of herself all over the walls. One was bad enough. Corey went from the nice guy, the every man if you will, to the bully.

So the new tattoo artists that quit were Amy and Paulie and they both ended up working at this eccentric small shop named American Electric Tattoo. The shop isn’t pink like Kat’s and it could use some better lighting fixtures, but it isn’t pompous like some other tattoo shops. Aubrey is either getting fired or going to quit and Amy and Paulie were bugging Craig Jackman to hire her. The shop is so small there is no need for an assistant, especially an assistant like Aubrey. Craig put his foot down and decided not to hire her, he’s becoming the Tattoo Home for LA Ink Runaways.

What really confuses me is how much they are focusing on his shop. Don’t get me wrong, I love it. I love his sense of humor, humility and he seems to do tattoos just as good if not better than LA Ink. I thought that they’d just show his shop once as a way to say “Look, the tattoo artists that everyone at LA Ink was so mean to are OK.” The shop keeps coming back every episode, I’m surprised Kat allows it. I say ditch LA Ink, keep American Electric Tattoo, but don’t make them create all the drama. Just let them be happy and do awesome tattoos.
