How could you ruin Mary Tyler Moore?

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I’ve been collecting the Mary Tyler Moore seasons on DVD. Well, I’ve been trying to, but Fox hasn’t so much been releasing them. I think the very first DVD set came out around the time that the Rosie O’Donnell Show was still on the air. I don’t know why I equate those things, I just do. I remember seeing the first season for sale & wondering if it was worth buying a DVD player for.

Well now I have a DVD player, several of them, but I’m still waiting for the subsequent seasons. For the last few years it’s just been seasons 1-4. On the amazon site they have “The Mary Tyler Moore Show The Complete Series” for sale for $134. So why I am so mad? This is the only way that you can get season 5-7. You have to buy seasons 1-7. For those of us who already have seasons 1-4, it’s just a complete waste of money. I love Mary Tyler Moore & all, but it’s just absurd.

She knows she’s on TV right?

I know that a lot of people make fun of the fact that The Hills & The City are considered to be reality TV. First off, some people think the shows are scripted. Secondly, it’s not reality because their worlds are fantasy & unrelatable to the average person. They just run around & party all the time. These girls never talk about paying bills, or cleaning the house, or looking up insurance quotes. That has nothing to do with reality.

I was shocked last night on The City when Olivia took credit for Whitney’s work at DVF. What’s worse is that Olivia basically made fun of Whitney for choosing that outfit. When the outfit was pulled for the cover, Olivia ran around the office telling everyone that she had picked the winning outfit. Yes, it’s underhanded. It’s wrong. It’s also just plain silly. She knows that she’s being taped but she’s painting herself in a corner anyways.

It’s on the TV for a reason

I’d always seen commercials about getting help with disability insurance. I was naive & thought, “Well you just have to fill out the paperwork right? If you qualify for it & you need it, you get it. Right?”

I was absolutely shocked when one of my friends was turned down for Social Security Disability Insurance. I was like “You have cancer…that’s what it’s for.” She then explained to me that it was a process that you don’t usually get through unless you have some kind of legal help. I guess they have those commercials for a reason.
