What I learned from the debate
Usually my political TV viewing ranges from The Jon Stewart Show to the Colbert Report. Yes, I’m just that informed. So, I decided that I was going to watch the Presidential Debates last Friday. I used the scientific method to decide which channel I would watch. Fine, I chose the channel that admitted that the debates ended at 8:30 instead of 9:00. I wasn’t interested in watching half an hour of commentary. That’s why I watch the Colbert Report.
I really wanted to see how both candidates would tackle the financial crisis. I wanted to know whether they wanted slight reforms, or to throw out everything & the kitchen sinks. I know from watching the West Wing that both candidates probably have a lot of speech writers & coaches. I would assume that they had a lot of practice at this. I was amazed to watch them stumble over simple words, like the other candidate’s name. I can’t really blame them, it would be difficult to keep your thoughts straight while the other person is constantly calling you a liar. I am more confused then ever but at least now I know how difficult it is to debate.
