Lessons learned from the Moment of Truth

Filed under: Relationship Lessons • Comments: 2

The Moment of Truth finale was last week. I swore that I wouldn’t watch this show on moral grounds. I balked at the idea that people could win up to $500,000 just by telling the truth when strapped to a lie detector. Are we really so dishonest as a society that this game show needs to exist? However, I was sucked in just through the hype.

Most of the lessons that I learn on this blog as positive. However, I learned that everyone has secrets & they are worse than we can never imagine. It goes beyond the fact that most of the parents don’t set up college funds or have child life insurance. Some of these secrets are really disturbing & can break apart families. I especially hate how people will reveal that they’ve threatened someone with a deadly weapon & then everyone will clap for them just because they were honest about it. Yes, honesty is a good policy but maybe not being a horrible person is the best policy.

Lessons learned from Shear Genius

Filed under: Relationship Lessons • Comments: None

I started watching Shear Genius because I really love the host Jaclyn Smith. Plus, I needed another summer reality show. The premise is the show is that 12 hairstylists compete for a $100,000 prize & an apprenticeship with Nexxus. The thing that baffles me about this show is that I can never guess which hair style is the bad one & which is the good one. They all look awful to me. Can you tell which one is the “good” hairstyle on the show?

The must have Real World phrase

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

If you are on the Real World there is one phrase that you must say. When your roommate gets kicked out of the house for fighting, or loses their job, or goes to rehab it can be an uncertain time. You never know what is going to happen on that show. You think you are going to see these people for 3 months & the next thing you know one might decide to take off on a private jet charter & marry a prince. (Ok, so it hasn’t happened yet but I’m sure it will now that I’ve planted the idea)

You might get a new roommate, you might not. The new roommate could be anyone, even a potential love interest. It always baffles me that the Real World house has changed so much since the show started. Every roommate has a unique personality. However, they always say the same thing. “We have a new roommate.” Every single cast member must say this. Very original.
