You know how the first rule of fight club is that you don’t talk about fight club? Well the first rule of reality TV is that you don’t mention that you are on reality TV. Yes, you are supposed to be real. You are supposed to tell us what it is like to live with a house of strangers. You are supposed to dip into the wine refrigerators. You are supposed to tell us about your past. You are supposed to tell us who you think is the spy or who you want to hook up with. You can even tell us that you are freaking out & hate being in whatever city the show takes place.

You can’t tell us that you hate it because the lights are always on or you are never alone because camera people are basically stalking you. On several reality shows I’ve watched people crack up because of the noise or the lights or the cameras in their face, but they can’t talk about it. How real is that?

Will taught us a very important lesson on the Real World last week: do not get fired from your job or else you will be sent home. I think that people focus so much on the you will get sent home if you hit someone rule that they forget about the other rule. The sad thing is that they didn’t even have a job this season, they just had to learn improv. I was expecting him to get another warning, but rules are rules. Do you think it was fair? Do you think his roommates should have stuck up for him? Will you miss him? I have to admit that I won’t.

I was watching Oprah the other day & Carson from “How to look good naked” was on the show. I never did figure out if it was from a few months ago or if it was a new episode. I usually hate shows about how to look good. They usually require a lot of work & weight loss, only to find out that I don’t have the bone structure of a model to begin with. He did however give a tip that I can use “Carry a big purse, it makes your hips look smaller” Finally, a fashion tip I can actually achieve. Shopping I can handle, it’s my gift, whether I’m shopping for a SD card or a new handbag. We all have our talents & that is mine.
