Lessons learned from Moving Up

Moving up is a show on TLC hosted by Trading Space’s Douglas Wilson. As far as I know the people on the show don’t receive any labor or help with finances. I just hope they use credit wisely & know how to balance transfer because they spend tons of money.

After the new homeowners finish their renovations the old homeowners come back & yell & cry. The show exists merely so people can criticize each other. Here are a few lessons from Moving Up:

  • Wallpaper is never a good idea
  • When you say you love something, the new owners will tear it out.
  • Ask during closing if you can take the curtains with you. The new owners will just burn them anyways.
  • The kitchen always needs to be totally redone even if it is brand new. Even if the people don’t cook.
  • I don’t care how strong your relationship is. If you try to renovate four rooms in front of a camera, you will fight.
