Lessons Learned From Samantha

Filed under: Relationship Lessons • Comments: None

Ok, this post was originally going to be a post with a title then lots of blank space. I just couldn’t figure out any lessons that I learned from Samantha on …& The City. Sure, she dresses great & probably wears Tahitian pearls.

Maybe it had to do with the fact that before I ever watched the show I always heard about Kim Catrall & Sara Jessica Parker fighting. I made up my mind right then & there to not watch the show. I hated both the characters & both the actresses. I don’t know if the rumors are true or not. However, I watched one show & really fell in love with the whole series. So if I learned anything from Samantha it’s to go after what you want & be who you are.

Lessons Learned From Charlotte

Charlotte was always really difficult for me to relate to on that …& the City show. I’m sure there are actual people out there like Charlotte, but I don’t know them. I guess she just seemed so fake & stereotypical. It seemed like every single guy she met she was always putting her first name with his last name & then house shopping.

I was always screaming at the TV “Why don’t you just look for an online mortgage instead of being so desperate?” However, I did learn one important lesson from her: don’t settle. Hold onto the dream even if all your experiences tell you that it’s not going to happen. If your dream man finally shows up & he’s not exactly what you expected, go after him anyways. Yes, that contradicts itself, but it’s good advice.

Lessons Learned From Miranda

Miranda was the most relatable character on “Sex & The City” for me because I am her. I usually tune in to see what kind of mistakes “I” will make in the future if I haven’t made them already. Here’s what Miranda taught me:

There is someone out there for everyone.

A wedding should be what you want, even if you aren’t traditional.

You can be strong & independent & still fall in love.
