I’m all for personality

Filed under: Business Lessons • Comments: None

I think that when you run a business, you should definitely bring your personality into it. It’s really the only way to make work fun & differentiate yourself from the pack. I always liked Kat’s shop on L.A Ink. She even had a skate ramp in the front of the shop.

Then, an entire episode focused around her building a bigger skate ramp. This meant losing the gold couches which were basically the waiting area for clients. The new ramp doesn’t even look cute. Plus, it’s right next to Hannah’s work station. Do you really need that big of a skate ramp in a tattoo shop? I guess there are limits.

Did Kat & Orby Break Up?

Filed under: Relationship Lessons • Comments: 1

This week’s episode of LA Ink was so peaceful & cute, with Orby asking Kat’s father for her hand in marriage. I wanted to look at vacation deals so I could go visit LA Ink. The preview next week’s show has Kat saying that they broke up & she never wants to talk about it again. Then it shows Orby saying that this really sucked because he had been shopping for a ring.

I’m racking my brain trying to think of what possibly could have happened. They seemed like they were really in love & Orby seemed to be a stabilizing influence on Kat. Hopefully it’s just an editing trick like when they kept airing Kat saying she thought she was pregnant when she was just joking. Anyone have any ideas? What could make Kat & Orby breakup?

Lessons learned from Trading Spaces

Filed under: Relationship Lessons • Comments: None

I love the new Trading Spaces format where we get to see more of the traders. The show isn’t just for neighbors anymore, it’s for people who need to improve/explore their relationship. On one recent episode two exes were trying to decide whether they should get back together. I was nervous that the designers would come up with some crazy ideas so the two people would never speak to each other again.

If I remember this episode correctly, both rooms were gorgeous. The man said he really liked his room but he said it proved he shouldn’t get back with her just because she didn’t put a statute that was important to him back in the room. I was shocked, a statue is so easy to put back in a room. It’s not like they glued hay all over the walls. (Which Hildi has done. The neighbors weren’t even mad at each other then.) I just guess it goes to show that if someone asks for new bathroom vanities, that’s what you should give them on Trading Spaces or it may ruin your relationship.
