The New Miss America Pageant

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

I didn’t watch the Road to Miss America or whatever that reality show was called. They just seemed so smiley & not realistic. That might’ve been ok, but the show was supposed to be more about reality. I did watch a little bit of the pageant & I think that TLC did a really good job with it. I feel a little bad the way that the Miss America pageant has been tossed from channel to channel lately. No, I would never participate in a beauty pageant, but it’s a tradition & Miss America just doesn’t seem to have a home anymore.

I really loved the fact that they changed how the contestants are eliminated. I think it used to go from 10 girls down to 5 down to 3 down to 1. That way, you always knew who the winner was as soon as the 1st runner up was announced. On last night’s pageant they had three runners up & of course Miss America chosen out of ten girls. This way it still seemed like anyone’s game & was a lot more interesting. What did you think of last night’s pageant?

Hot Lips & Hawkeye

Filed under: Relationship Lessons • Comments: None

I started watching MASH when I was a little kid. I never understood why Hot Lips was the love interest. I was young & didn’t know about platinum blond hair, I thought it was gray. She always seemed like she needed some progesterone. As I grew up I came to root for Hot Lips & Hawkeye getting together. That never happened & I never really understood why. They were always dating the wrong people or in the wrong place. I guess the biggest lesson is sometimes relationships just don’t work out, even when they seem fated.

Dear Real Worlders

Filed under: Lessons • Comments: None

Dear Real Worlders,

If you decide to go live in a house full of strangers for months on end & all you really have to do is drink & be dramatic don’t try to keep your boyfriend/girlfriend. It never works. You always think it will, but it never ever does & not even buying your significant other a Bell and Ross watch will fix it. You won’t be able to hide it, despite what Dunbar thinks because you’ll be on TV. Your relationship will at least have a chance if you go on a break before you leave town. Granted, it won’t be a lot of a chance, but at least it will be a chance.

Sincerely,

A Concerned Real World Viewer
