Business Lessons Learned from Kathy Griffin

Filed under: Business Lessons • Comments: 1

I watch “My Life on the D-List”. I’ve seen every episode. Sometimes, I don’t know why exactly I watch it. The show should be annoying, but it’s not. Here are some business lessons I have learned from Kathy Griffin.

Care about everything. She cares about every single show she does. Kathy does research to make jokes specific to jewelers, she doesn’t just recycle the same stuff over & over.

Rally the troops. Kathy always tries to have people at every show that she knows will laugh.

Pride? I keep expecting Kathy to get prideful one of these seasons, her show has been emmy nominated after all. However, she’s still taking every job she can get, she’s still putting the same energy & enthusiasm into everything she does.

Business Lessons learned from Ace of Cakes

Filed under: Business Lessons • Comments: None

I have more than a little crush on Duff Goldman from “Ace of Cakes”. This food network show follows a zany Baltimore bakery who builds amazing cakes, sometimes the cakes even have explosives in them. Here are some business lessons I have learned from them:

It’s not work when it’s fun. The bakery has done so well because they are willing to work well into the night. They do this because they love what they do. This makes them even more detailed oriented, so their cakes are even better. The bakery is a happy place full of light & laughter that people just want to spend time in, even the employees.

It’s not always about money. I’ve seen “Ace of Cakes” donate cakes to charities that are just as detailed & expensive as their regular cakes.

Think outside the box. They can turn anything into a cake, they don’t let the traditional cake decorating ideas get in their way.

Think inside the box. I was watching an episode of “Food Network Challenge” where Duff was the judge. The challenge was to build extreme cakes. Duff stooped several contestants from using fireworks in a dangerous way. It’s OK to be a mad scientist, as long as you are still a scientist.

Business Lessons Learned From Taylor Doose

Filed under: Business Lessons • Comments: None

There are even business lessons that can be learned from Taylor from Gilmore Girls. It seems that the only person that I haven’t learned any business lessons from is Richard Gilmore. Oops my bad, that was just too predictable. Although, I will say that wearing a bow tie is always proper business attire.

Taylor Doose knows how to diversify; he basically does everything in the whole town.

When you can’t beat them then just confuse them with all the rules and regulations until they just give up and beg for mercy.

Power is not necessarily a bad thing, especially when you are the one who has it.

Ok I obviously didn’t learn a lot from Taylor but I did pick up a few business lessons and trust me on the bow tie.
