Business lessons from Luke Danes
Luke & Lorelai may be perfect for each other in love, but they run their businesses totally different. Lorelai is understanding where Luke is sarcastic. Sometimes I even wonder why anyone goes into Luke’s Diner. I think the reason for that is…
- Luke produces a good product at a great price. He is the keeper of the coffee and people need the coffee.
- Luke has his rules. He may be eccentric at times, but he spells out things like the cell phone rule so everyone knows what they’re doing. He’s consistent and doesn’t play favorites.
- I’ll admit it Luke can be grumpy. He can get away with that because that is his personality. Deep down he is true and caring and he goes to bat for people. You can still have your personality in business.
I don’t know whether I’m a Luke or a Lorelai in business. I think that a combination is preferable. I love the way that Luke respects tradition by leaving his father’s stuff in the diner even though it’s no longer a hardware store. This gives a homey, constant feeling, that has customers coming back for years. Either way, I’m glad to have learned business lessons from the Gilmore Girls.
